The annual St. Boniface Parish Summer Picnic will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. CDT on the church grounds at Fulda. Please mark your calendar to join us on the first Sunday in August as our parish family gathers to celebrate our faith and history in Spencer County since 1847.
Sponsors making a gift at the Patron Level or above will be recognized for their support in print and social media promotion, as well as the placards on picnic day. Friend and Investor Levels will also be recognized on the placards along with the picnic honor roll honorees (+In Memory and In Honor) with a complete listing of picnic sponsors located in the parish church and throughout the parish grounds on picnic day and on the website.
Summer Picnic Activities: Games and entertainment for all ages will be available throughout the parish grounds. For the family, a Family Fun Center, along with free games and activities, will be open throughout the day.
Fulda’s Famous Soup: Fulda’s famous soup will be sold by the bowl or bulk at the shelter house. The food court will also serve hamburgers, featured grilled items, drinks and ice cream.
Dinners for Dine In or Carryout: Fried chicken or roast beef dinners with all the trimmings will be served in the parish center from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parishioners, friends, and neighbors are invited to enjoy indoor and outdoor dining throughout the day. Carryout is also available.
Kountry Kitchen: The Kountry Kitchen will feature homemade bread, rolls, muffins, coffee cakes, snacks, salsa, jellies, jams, relishes, vegetables and plants for sale.
Theme Baskets and Quilts Made by Local Artisans: Other activities will include raffles of handmade quilts from parishioners and local artisans, and themed gift baskets, featuring local goods and artisan work. Handmade quilts from parishioners and local artisans will be available for purchase, from 9 to 9:30 a.m., for $600 each.
Entertainment: Featured will be live music by Sweetwater Band from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Organ Concert: An organ concert by Nolan Snyder, a graduate of Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, will begin at noon. The oak case organ features 10 ranks, 535 pipes, two manuals with 58 keys, and pedals with 25 keys, built and installed in 1898 by Edmund Giesecke of Evansville, IN.
Church Tours: Guided tours of the historic church, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, will be at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Raffle Drawings: The picnic will conclude with raffle drawings. You must be at least 18 years old to enter the drawings, and you need not be present to win. Prizes will be awarded within 10 business days.
Shuttle and Parking: Patron parking is available by entering the access road at the intersection of Plum Street and State Road 545, south of the Village Hut. This access road leads patrons to service roads parallel to St. Boniface Cemetery. Shuttle service is available at all parking locations.
Handicap Parking: Located on the north side of the church and by entering the access road at the intersection of Plum Street and State Road 545, south of the Village Hut. Courtesy benches are available for patrons to safely wait while their driver is parking. Handicap-accessible seating is available at all indoor and outdoor dining locations. Restrooms are located in a shaded area near the Parish Center.
