The St. Meinrad Council #5599 members of the Knights of Columbus will hold a Memorial Mass to honor and remember deceased members of the council. The event is open to the public. One of the most important duties of a local council is to remember its deceased members each year. A council customarily holds a Memorial Mass for the deceased members, generally held in November when the Church celebrates All Soul's Day and All Saints Day. If any family members of the deceased are living in your area, they are welcome to attend the Mass and participate in the celebration.
The Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Central Time on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the chapel in the Saint Meinrad Guest House & Retreat Center, 200 Hill Drive in St. Meinrad.
The Mass will be attended by current members of Council #5599, and widows and families of deceased members. The names of the deceased members from the council who have died within the past year will be read during the Mass. A family member will receive a flower in memory of the deceased member.
The Saint Meinrad Seminary Council #15058 and the honor guard of Tell City Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Reverend Edward J. Heuke Assembly #2065 will participate in the Mass.
There will be a luncheon to follow in the Dining Room of the Guest House & Retreat Center following the Memorial Mass.
The Knights of Columbus Council #5599 is the local chapter of the national Catholic Men’s Service Fraternal Benefit Organization, founded in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1882 by the Rev. Michael J. McGivney. There are more than 1.7 million members worldwide and approximately 150 members of the St. Meinrad Council.
