The annual St. Meinrad Parish Fall Picnic will be held on the church grounds on Sunday,
September 17, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Central Time.
Boy Scout Troop 102 will open the event at 9:45 a.m. with the presentation of colors and honor guard, followed by an opening prayer and moment of silence to remember those listed in the picnic honor roll.
Parishioners, friends and neighbors are invited to enjoy entertainment throughout the day, including live music at the outdoor dining pavilion, weather permitting. Fried chicken dinners, famous soup (by the bowl or gallon), ice cream by Windmill Chill, and a food court with hamburgers and cheeseburgers will be available for dine-in and carry-out while supplies last. Also, returning in 2023 will be the German tenderloin sandwich.
Patrons may pre-order soup by the gallon using cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or eChecks (ACH) between July 1 and August 31 by using a QR code or at www.smcatholic.church/fall-picnic. The parish provides complimentary gallon jugs with pre-orders.
On picnic day, patrons may use cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or eChecks (ACH). Bulk tickets are available for $1 each at the hospitality stand located at the intersection at 4th Street N and Brewery Street. Tickets for single-purchase items are available by scanning the QR code at the stand. Tickets may not be used at charitable gaming stands.
The Gatwoods will provide live music throughout the day. The Celebration Singers will perform at 11 a.m. in the parish church. Following will be an architectural tour of the church at 12:30 p.m. Take a virtual tour of the parish cemetery to view specific burial sites, photos of headstones, and an aerial map of the cemetery at www.smcatholic.church/1861.
The country store will feature crafts from local artisans and baked goods, including whole pies and cakes, preserves, jams, and canned items.
The celebration will conclude with raffle drawings. Raffle tickets are available from any St. Meinrad parishioner after July 1. Please return the completed raffle tickets and donations to raffle stands on picnic day. You must be 18 years old to enter and need not be present to win. Cash prizes will be mailed within 10 business days.
